The saying is true about how the older you get, the faster the years go by! I can't believe these kiddos are now officially first graders and I have completed my 21st year of teaching. Thank you for sharing your amazing children with me. I love them dearly, will never forget them and hope they never forget me. Please keep in touch. I can't wait to watch them grow and follow them on their journey through life. I appreciate the support and teamwork that many of you have shown me this year as well. Together, we help your special children do amazing things! I hope to see you all at the summer playdates I have scheduled!
A look at our final days in Kindergarten...
Talent Show: the BEU Talent Show was held on Tuesday. We sure do have some talented friends at our school! We saw guitar, ukulele and piano players, dancing, karate, comedians and more! Such a special Beulah Ralph tradition! More pictures and videos are on the class Facebook page.
Senior walk: high school seniors from Rock Bridge High School and Tolton High School did a walk through their former elementary schools on Monday. We loved seeing them in their cap and gown and cheering them on. A few even stayed to play with kindergarten on the playground. I hope when your child is a high school senior they will come back to do the same. A video is on the class Facebook page.
5th grade graduation: our 5th graders graduated on Thursday evening. This is always such a special night and I love seeing my former Kindergarteners. In the blink of an eye, your sweet kindergarteners will be at their 5th grade graduation and I will be there cheering them on as well!
5th grade walk: Friday morning our 5th graders took their final walk around Beulah Ralph. Everyone in the school lined up along the sidewalk to cheer them on. Such a fun tradition! You can find the video on our class Facebook page. The next time they walk around the school like this will be when they are Seniors in high school and hopefully come back for their elementary walk through, like the seniors mentioned above.
Kindergarten Celebration: thank you to everyone who attended the Kindergarten Celebration on Friday! Having you there meant so much to your children! The musical performance, led by Mr. Fears, was adorable and I hope you loved the slideshow from the year as much as I enjoyed making it! We had perfect weather for the family picnic afterwards! MANY more pics on the class Facebook page.
Class Awards: on Friday, we celebrated our uniqueness and special talents with class awards. Every child has an award specific to them and no awards repeat themselves. This came home in your child's end of year folder, be sure to check it out! They were very proud!
Alphabet Countdown: during the final week of school we had U for Under the Table day (forts), V for Vacation Day (one of my favorites) W for Workout day and we walked/ran a mile on the track, did a GoNoodle workout and Cosmic Kids Yoga in the classroom. On X for eXchange autographs day we had fun signing and looking at our yearbooks and suddenly had to combine Y and Z due to the last minute schedule change that turned Friday into our last day of school! They brought their special things hope and are zipped up and zooming off to summer break and first grade!
The countdown is a favorite kindergarten tradition of students and teachers and I want to thank you for participating in the fun!
Kindergarten hopes and dreams: during the first week of Kindergarten we discussed what each child hoped to learn during their first year in school. We wrote them down and they hung up all year! On the last day of school we went over the list and most discovered that they learned what they hoped to! Although I do have to say that I did not help them learn how to do cartwheels and flips like many of them had hoped lol!
May Sneaky Reading Challenge: yes, school is over, but that doesn't mean that reading should stop! If your child hasn't completed May's sneaky reading challenge, read outside, I encourage them to do so next week and ask that an adult snap a picture and post to our class Facebook page!
They have become such amazing readers this school year. To continue this momentum, it is important that they read and are read to daily this summer! Make it a goal to read for 15-20 minutes per day. Quiet time for mom and dad and building their confidence as readers! A double win!
The Daniel Boone Regional Library does a summer reading challenge and the kids can win some amazing prizes! I encourage you to check it out here.
Summer School Open House: if your child is attending summer school, open house/meet the teacher is on Thursday, May 29th from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Summer school runs June 2-27th.
More fun from our final week together
