Hurricane Harvey Relief

3 cheers for Max!
He was the first friend in our class to donate socks for our new friends at Kohfeldt Elementary School in Texas City, Texas.

This morning at the "Monday Morning Meeting" we learned that our Service Learning Project this year for grades K-5 would be supporting this school that was greatly affected by the hurricane.  The first step is this donation drive.  It was truly heartwarming and so touching to see how interested and invested the children already are, even the little Kindergarteners.  Many of our lesson plans took a backseat today so that we could talk about the hurricane, see pictures of the school and photos of families homes who go to this school, etc.  I can tell many of you are talking with your children at home about this devastation because they were so concerned and wanted to talk about how to help all day today!  It was wonderful! Their kindness and desire to be helpful during this time of need is amazing!  So many of them told me they were going to ask mom and dad if they could go shopping right after school!  Thank you in advance for not only supporting this cause, but modeling and instilling this sense of giving to others in your little ones.  That is what service learning is all about and what we pride ourselves on at Beulah Ralph!

As the students bring in donations, they can either bring them to the classroom or drop off at the front of the Kindergarten hallway in the appropriate baskets for what they are donating.
