Learning in Room 302

Kindergarten Service Learning
In just two short weeks we have raised over $100 for Columbia Manor! Our class alone raised $23!!  Keep sending them in for the entire month of April.  We count our pennies weekly in the classroom and are learning different ways to make a dollar to help us count.  On Friday's Mrs. Layla is taking the coins to the bank to swap out for cash to make it a bit easier for when we go and purchase the board games, puzzles and snacks for the residents in May.

Fundations: check your child's Friday Folder for the weekly Fundation paper and help them practice reading it fluently at home.  They are getting so good at it!

Shared Reading: we read the books I Can Be and Bananas Sometimes.  They are both super silly books and they had lots of giggles while reading this week.  We also read the poem As Fast As A Cheetah.  These helped us practice our new spelling words: look & as.

Writing Workshop: they are doing a great job in week two of opinion writing.  They have wrote their opinions on several topics: where they would choose to go on a field trip, favorite season, favorite things about their dad and why.  Our goal is to write at least 3 supporting reasons/details.

Math: we have tied in learning about money this week to help with our service learning project and continue to work on addition and subtraction to 10.  Ask your child about the game Growing and Disappearing Train.

Friday Craft: today we used lots of creativity and colorful paper to make a beautiful Spring board.  So many beautiful trees, flowers, insects, animals, etc.

Ms. Bailey
Your child may talk about Ms. Bailey.  She is an MU education student who observes and helps as part of her education classes every Wednesday morning.  She begins our day with us and stays until lunch.  The kiddos love playing games with her and reading with her.  Next week she will get to join us on our trip to the planetarium!

Mizzou Football Spring Game
Mizzou football players were at all 21 elementary schools this week playing at recess and saying hi to the kiddos at dismissal.  They hope to see many of you at their spring football game tomorrow!

Drone Photo
A Beulah Ralph tradition is to take a drone photo of everyone in the school standing in the shape of a number. This year it was number 3 because it is the third year we have been open.  Such an awesome tradition!  If you want a sneak peak of the photo check out the Beulah Ralph Families Facebook page.  The photo will also be in the yearbook.
