A week of fun!

Check out the fun we've had this week!

F is for Flashlight Day
(I seriously should have done this every week!  It was almost scary how calm and quiet and focused they were all day long haha!)

G is for Game Day

H is for Hat Day

I is for Inside Out and Ice Pop Day

Happy May Day!
We celebrated May Day on May 1st by making tissue paper flowers and making surprise deliveries around the school.  This was a favorite day of mine as a child, and since I was from a small town we always walked around town with our classmates and teachers to deliver May Day baskets.  It is also a favorite of Dr. Majerus', as he remembers doing the same as a child!  Ask your child all about it!  They loved the surprise part of it!

Tie-Dye
Today we tie-dyed the shirts we will wear on our field trip to Columbia Manor on May 16th and our Kindergarten program on May 24th. We will keep these at school until the days they are needed.  The kids will be able to change shirts those days at school.  They will be able to take the tie-dye shirts home on May 24th.

International Day
Next Friday, May 10th, our school will be holding an International Day Celebration.
Students will be able to learn about many other countries, cultures and traditions on this day.  Each classroom chose a different country to learn about.  We have been learning about Hungary in our classroom.  A former student teacher of mine lives in Budapest, Hungary and teaches 2nd grade.  We are hoping to Skype with her class soon.  Her class is also writing and mailing us letters!  We can't wait!  Check out the flags we made, facts we have learned and listen to their alphabet song.  The kids loved listening to it and noticing similarities and differences!

Penny Drive for Columbia Manor
The Penny Drive for Columbia Manor has ended, thank you for your generosity for our Service Learning Project!  We are still working on exact final totals, but we think we are close to $638!  That amount will be able to purchase many snacks, puzzles and board games for the residents!  Next week, the students will be able to help us decide which things to buy!
