Special Day

Dr. Majerus

This morning at the Monday Morning Meeting the staff surprised Dr. Majerus with some special visitors and gifts for his upcoming retirement.  First, we presented him with 2 tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals game for him and Mr. Woods.  He is a huge Cardinals fan!  Next, the PTA surprised him with a Red-bud tree and plaque in his honor that will be planted at the school.  Then we played a slideshow of pictures from throughout the years, his childhood until now, set to the song "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen.  Finally, we played a game called "This is your Life," based off the old tv show, and he listened to clues and had to guess who was behind the curtain.  They were all people that were important to him throughout his life and career.
It truly was touching and there were many happy tears.  His wife and one of his sons were able to surprise him and be here as well.

Miss Martin even taught the kiddos about Bruce Springsteen during music day since he is one of Dr. Majerus' favorite musicians! Check out the pictures closely to see if you notice anything funny!

Countdown to Summer
U-Under tables day
Today we worked under our tables! How fun!

Science
Today we had a lesson from Mrs. Kelly Mason, a recycling ambassador for the City of Columbia.  Ask your child to show you their certificate from her and the blue recycling bag they have to use at home. They sure know a lot about recycling! She is also friends with Sutton and Avery's families.  Thanks Mrs. Pennington for the fun suggestion!

These kiddos were proud of their Magnatiles creation today!
